Security updates-office 2007 unneeded?

Ed DeGani

Automatic updates insist on installing 3 security updates for office 2007. i
don't have Office 2007 installed on my machine. The latest version is office
2003. However, the automatic update notice pops up repeately and the yellow
triangle with the exclamation mark is constantly shown in my notification
area.
How do I remove it and cancel the instal?

Thanks,
Ed

Hi Ed,

Check in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel to see if you have an Office 2007 trial, or MS Expression product listed,
including the Office compatibility pack that allows you to open Office 2007 files in Office 2003 apps.

If you are using MS Update and have set it to prompt you before installing, use the custom install choice to look at each update and
mark the ones you don't want as 'don't remind me'.

Thank you, Bob, for your suggestions. Indeed, I found the "office
Compatibility Pack" on the list! I wasn't aware it was installed - must have
been during the time I allowed unmonitored automatic upgrades. I don't allow
it anymore and require notifications only.
Your response helped alleviate my concern. Thanks again!
Ed.
