Security w/Split databases

I have some split Access97 databases which are going to
be upgraded to XP this weekend. A couple of questions:

1. I still need to secure the backend tables. I
understand that I can use the same .mdw file as the front
end. However, in the front end, do I also need to secure
the link to the tables?

2. Do the .mdw files need to be converted also?

Just give users full permissions on the links. A user cannot inherit higher
permissions than those set on the table in the backend.
2. Do the .mdw files need to be converted also?

Not necessarily. The 97 mdw will work in 2002, however, I have always
unsecured in 97, converted, and resecured in 2002.
