seeing jpeg graphics imported into word

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

Previously I have been successful in importing jpeg graphics (from Illustrator) into Word files, but recently they have appeared black. I have played with the settings in Preferences, but have exhausted my ability to troubleshoot this problem. I am using Word 2004 on a Mac; any ideas?

Thanks

Are these existing images in documents where they previously displayed or
are they new images?

Is Office fully updated (11.5.3)? What about OS X (10.4.11)

If they're new JPEGs what export options are being used in Illy to generate
them?

What additional details can you provide?

Until we have the information Bob asked for, we're struggling a bit.

What colour-depth are you using? Word 2004 has problems above 24-bit.

Cheers
