Seeking new format for small construction cost form to be used by residential
contractor clients for simplified job cost reporting.
I do the database development for one of the largest homebuilders in the
Orlando, FL area (~700 homes a year) Most of the actual costs are tracked by
the accounting system (Timberline) but the bidding and maintenance of the
cost structure is handled through custom programs. It is a very expensive
system to develop and maintain. Depending upon how many houses you build,
you may find that a spreadsheet is more suited to each house. You can keep a
master sheet which feeds the others with current lumber and block prices,
etc.
If you can specifically state your reporting requirement, I may be able to
point you in the right direct for building one. Just post specific questions
back.
