select objects

how do i select a pocture or and object that may be behind text. the "select
objects" arrow is gone!?

You can restore the button; see

that if this is Word 2002 or 2003, you should be able to click the arrow at
the end of the toolbar, select Add or Remove Buttons, then Drawing, and
check off the button on the list).
