Select specific value dynamically

Hello, I can't figure out the terms to find this in Help.
I would like to have a query which will come up and prompt for the value for
a date field. As I noted, can't figure what MS calls this stuff.

In the critiera row place this

[Please enter a date]

Change the words if nes.

Can someone tell me what the terms would be to find this in Help? I
exhausted all my variations of Criteria and Select.
