select text in text field

when I try to select characters or words in a text field by pressing
control+right or control+shift+right, all text to the end of the field
is selected. How can I select only part of the text?

This is, and has for years, been a problem when form fields are inserted
into table cells. There is no way to select text in the middle of a form
field that's in a table cell. You'd need to build the form with FRAMES
(from the Forms toolbar).
