Selected Printer over riding Default Printer

I have a user working in Word that is selecting a network color printer for a
document.

Unfortunately, the setting is sticking, even if the user closes out the Word
application completely. The Default Printer is not changing in the OS, but is
not being applied to Word after the color printer selection.

All advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps Word is being used as the Outlook editor and that is interfering?
