Selecting pictures, text boxes, and lines at the same time

D

Debranga

I have a document in Word 2003 that contains pictures that are laid out in
line with text; there are also text boxes and lines on top of those pictures
that are laid out in front of text. When I try to select everything in order
to paste this information into another document (by either hitting CTRL + A
to select all or selecting all the items by dragging my cursor over them),
only the pictures are selected. If I click on each individual element while
holding down the CTRL key, Word won't let me select the pictures with the
text boxes and lines; it seems to be an either/or situation. Is there a way
for me to select pictures, text boxes, and lines all at the same time in
order to copy them to another docuement? Thanks!

Not directly. The floating matter is in a different storyrange and a
different drawing layer from the inline matter, and you can't simultaneously
select from both. However, if the floating matter is anchored to the same
paragraphs that contain the inline matter, then selecting those paragraphs
will pick up the floating stuff also.

Use the shift key, not the ctrl key (and if you group them it makes things
even easier for you in the future)

Hi Jezebel,

Point taken. I had picked up on Debranga's very last sentence , wanting to
collect a pictures, text boxes and lines (I thought drawn lines, not text
lines) to copy elsewhere.

I don't know who it was said it but we are evidently known as two nations
seprated by the same language (I'm in the U.K.)

Oscar Wilde. But I'm not a USer either. Two nations joined by a common
linguine?
