Selecting text to copy in long document

G

Geoffrey Wright

Whenever I try to highlight and copy more than the current
page of a document, the highlighter runs to the last page,
for example, page 56, when I only want to highlight for
copying the first four pages.

How can I slow down the highlighter in order to just copy
the section, or portion, of the document I want?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Geoffrey,

You have a few choices here:

- Downgrade your computer to a slower processor (Yeah I know, out of
the question! <grin>)
- Upgrade Word to Word 2002 or Word 2003 where they no longer tie the
scroll speed to the processor speed

or

- Utilize any number of alternative methods to select text:
* If you have a wheel mouse then you can hold the left mouse button
and roll the wheel
* Use the Shift key to select text.

For example if you want to select text by page then hold Shift
and press Ctrl PgUp/Dn or hold Shift and use the arrow keys, End,
Home, etc You can also anchor your cursor at the beginning of your
selection, scroll down and locate the end of the selection, press and
hold Shift, then click at the end.

There are a multitude of other methods if these suggestions do not
work for you. :)
