selective but automated read receipts

Is it possible to automatically have a read receipt attached to any emails
that have a MS Word document attached?
If so, would this be possible to initiate when emailing a file from Word's
File | Send to | Mail Recipient options?
I have no Outlook VBA experience, but I do have some VBA experience in Excel.
I'm using Word and Outlook 2003 sp1.

What do you hope to gain? The recipient always has the option of refusing
the receipt request.

It's policy here to have Always send response checked. So, no, they can't
refuse without violating company policy.
