Self Assign Team Tasks

PS2007 SP1

We are planning on setting up team tasks for our project plans. There are
30 tasks in each plan that could be worked on by members of a team. On our
test system the Show Only Current Tasks does not seem to work on the page
where team members self assign tasks - tasks are showing that start months
from now. The Show only Current Tasks works on the My Task page.

Does the Show Only Current Tasks work on the page where team members self
assign tasks? How can a team member find tasks across multiple project plans
except to keep paging and paging through the screens? Has this been changed
in a release since SP1?

I am not sure what to tell this group to do with their tasks since there are
30 in each plan and we could have 40 plans active at a time - I was hoping to
limit the view of the tasks at least by the Show Only Current Tasks but
cannot.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

There is no "Current Tasks" option on the Team Tasks page. This means that
every resource who is a part of a Team resource will see EVERY Team task in
EVERY project. However, when a resource who is part of a Team resource
self-assigns a Team task, that Team task will disappear from each user's
Team Tasks page. Microsoft assumes this functionality is for organizations
where a PM needs to assign a task to a team, and then ONE member of the team
will take over ownership of the task and work on it exclusively. Hope this
helps.

Dale,

Will it make any difference if instead of assigning the tasks to the team
lead and each of the team members having to self assign tasks we instead set
up a team resource and assign the tasks to the team resource? I am not
certain from the other posts if this definitely then bypasses the Team Task
page and just puts the tasks on the My Task page for each team member.

I will test this out to see also.

Thanks
