Send a workspace on a CD

Hi all,

Is it possible to send a workspace on a CD to new users? We have a few
users with limited bandwidth sattelite connections, that I would like
to add to a workspace. There is about 500 MB data in the workspace at
this time, making the initial download impossible. I would therefor
like to burn the workspace to a CD, send it to the users, and then
only sync the changes over the sattelite connections.

Any thoughts on how to get this done?

don't usually correct people with Mark's experience but this time i know
something most don't

there is a way - i saw Scott demo this at Strong Angel III a year ago

actuall make a copy of a space and ship on CD
and it installs correctly on the target machine as if it has received an
invite

that's Scott Prather eg Groove and he sure knows the innards well enough to
have done this right

trouble is he is now teaching kids at school and not in IT / Groove anymore
and i would need to dig out his contact somehow - let me try

I don't normally contradict people with Ashok's experience but I'm really
sceptical about this.

Your workspaces on your PC are encrypted with the certificates belonging to
your Groove account. As such it would be impossible for anyone to
decrypt/open them unless they had your private key.

I'll send you a space with full details including password for my private
Swiss Bank Account (what? don't all Groove partners have one?!?!). If you can
read it, fly to Zurich and help yourself!

saw this myself Mark
and you know scott and his deep inner knowledge
also this was with the blessings of Groove / MS for sure
challenge was to move huge amounts of preset data and maps etc
to aid workers who may be on real slow lines

so obviously groove trusted scott enough to let this out

yup - scott did not make the move to Groove / MS - pity - and chose to go
back to his first love, teaching kids, rather than go back into the IT rat
race with anyone else

but seriously - this has been done - if i can i will get hold of scott to
relieve you of your swiss account

I would be interested in this method of transferring large weorkspaces to
new members as well.
Did you manage to find a working solution?
