Send and Receive Outlook 2003

Hi,

I need some help in improving or tweaking how this
outlook synchronize while I'm connected using aircard
(dial-up speed) while on the road. Here's what the
problem;

System: Exchnage 5.5 with Outlook 2003 running in cache
mode

1. When starting outlook, it takes about 1 minute to see
the folder display.
2. Then the status is showing connected and waiting to
update folders. When you click anywhere in outlook, the
hourglass appear and can't do anything.
3. Only after 5 minutes the updating of inbox or
send/receive process starts. That's a long wait.

Is this normal?
