I'm using Entourage 2004 on a Powerbook G4 running OSX 10.3.9. I have 4
POP accounts that I use regularly. Recently, when I check my mail, the
status bar shows the progress taking an inordinate amount of time to
complete. I've manually sent and received the accounts individually and
all at once and the problem doesn't appear to be connected to any
particular account. Sometimes the "connecting to.." progress bar will
spin forever until I escape ("command period"). I have a broadband
connection and the hang-ups seem random. I've tested Entourage on
other, similarly configured machines, with other accounts on the same
ISP (and domain) and they send and receive just fine.
I've performed the usual range of maintanence (repaired permissions,
run DiskWarrior, cleared caches, tossed pref files and rebuilt the data
file) but nothing seems to solve the problem. The database is about
2.5GB but I was under the impression that there was no file size limit.
Since the problem seems confined to only one of our office machines I
assume that it is a software issue. Has anyone experienced anything
similar? I'm at a loss, any suggestions?
