send/receive check

microsoft exchange server keep check every minut send/receive mail which
keeps hard disk runing and prevent it from turn off and do not let the laptop
enter standby mode so why is that and how could i stoped the server of keep
checking when the laptop is ideal

Close Outlook before trying to go into standby mode - Outlook gets fussy
about this in my experience.
