Send receive suddenly stops working

I am using Outlook 2003 on a new computer using Vista Business. I just got
the computer and set up my first email account- a pop3. When I first open
Outlook it will send and receive emails no problem. But then all of a sudden
it stops working. It will hold messages in the Outbox and won't retrieve new
email. I have to close Outlook and reopen, and then it works again (at
first). But eventually it just stops working. Can anyone help me fix
this??? Thanks!!!

Reset your automatic mail polling to no less than every 10 minutes and see if
that cures it. Anything less than that can cause this problem. (Or possibly
you have not set up any auto polling.) Tools. Options, Mail Setup,
Send/receive.
