send/receive when opening e-mail

Is there a way to have Outlook automatically go and get
new messages when I open mail in Outlook. Currently I
have to click send/receive to do this. Thanks.

Post your version ALWAYS.

To have Outlook perform an automatic send/receive, you will need to set an
automatic polling interval in your send/receive settings tab. You can also
set "send immediately..." on the same tab to not have to press send/receive
when sending mail.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, James asked:
