Send/recieve problems in Outlook 2003 Nothing actually is sent

When I create a new E-mail and press the send button, the box opens up
indicating that the email is being sent but it does not get sent. The email
goes to the outbox. If i try and sent it from the outbox the same thing
happens, nothing is sent.

Thanks For your reply but even if i disable email scanning it still will not
send emails. If i revert to outlook express......everything works fine.
