"send to" mail recipient grayed out

I just upgraded from Office 2000 to 2003. While I didn't
have this problem in the old version in 2003 the File:
Send to: Mail recipient option is grayed out. I don't
have Outlook but I never did. IE and other applications
with this feature can still find my email client. Any
ideas on how to get this feature back?

What do you mean that you don't have Outlook and never did? Outlook is an
integral part of all versions of Office.

Check in Control Panel, Internet Options and see that the correct default
Email client is set.

I never installed outlook (this is a custom install
option) as it is prohibited where I work. The correct
email client is set in internet options.

I can only assume that whatever email client you use is incompatible with
Office 2003 then. Do you have any other problems that may be related to this
or just the Mail To being greyed out?

Online meeting is also grayed out but I never use it. The
send to works in Powerpoint so I find it hard to
understand why it would just be Word that it doesn't work
with.

I don't understand that either - especially if PPt works OK. I suggest that
you call your IT support and ask them to check out permissions as this may
be something of their doing.
