Send To Mail Recipient option does nothing

D

Don Wagner

Windows XP Professional
Outlook 2003

When I click on a file in explorer and choose Send To/Mail recipient, a
Outlook message window does not open.

I have not installed Microsoft Outlook Personal Folders Backup and Microsoft
Office Outlook is selected as my E-mail program in IE Internet Options.

Any help would be appreciated.

Does it apply to Oulook 2007 & Vista Home Premium as well? In my case OL does
start (I can see it in task manager) but does nothing..... and of course if I
want to start OL then I have to kill the process started by rigth-clicking.
Will the KB resolution fix my case??

thanx 4 ur feedback....

I have the same problem and have not yet gotten a response.

If I have Outlook 2007 open and select "Send Link by E-Mail..." under Page in
IE7 (or try to email a picture in Vista by right clicking, selecting Sent To,
then Mail Recipient) Outlook opens a new email window and everything appears
to work fine.

However, if Outlook 2007 is not open when I click on "Send Link by
E-Mail..." (or try to email a file in Vista) nothing appears to happen (no
warning message appears and no Outlook email window opens). After this
occurs, Outlook 2007 won't open unless I go into Windows Task Manager, find
OUTLOOK.EXE in Processes and click End Process. It appears that Outlook is
trying to start but it hangs up.

I am running Vista, IE7, & Outlook 2007. Outlook is my default email handler.

I would appreciate any assistance I can get.

Any idea?

Thanks Franz! Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the issue because I have an
iPhone, but it's nice to know the source of the problem.

The solution is to remove Apple Mobile Device Support in Control Panel, but
if you have an iPod/iPhone you need to keep it and are stuck with the problem
until Apple does something about it.
