Send to Word opens two instances in Word 2003

OneNote 2003, Word 2003, all service packs and office updates
installed.

When I send to Word, two Word instances open. One is as expected. The
other instance displays only what I would call the Word shell - there
is no document, that area is empty and grey, there are no task bars at
all. What you see is the top of the window, the bar that holds the
minimize/resize/close buttons. It, too, is grey, except for the blue
"W" Word icon. Clicking on any of those three buttons has no effect.

This instance does close when the "real" instance is closed.

Detect and Repair did not fix it.

I suspect this may not be a OneNote problem, per se, but am not sure
what else to try. This does not happen when just opening Word, or just
opening a Word doc.

TYIA for any suggestions or pointers...

Does it happen with any other program which tries to send data to Word?

Did you do "Detect and Repair" on both Word and OneNote?

You're a genius!

I had only run Detect and Repair from Word - because I thought that it
automatically D&R'd on all Office apps (there's a message to that
effect, or at least that's how I interpreted the message).

When I ran D&R from OneNote, the errant behavior stopped.

Thank you *very* much!

You're welcome! I'm glad this was resolved for you.

Erik -

Like a character in a bad movie, it's back.

Would you have other suggestions? (I was going to find out if this
behavior exists with any other program that sends to Word, but I'm not
sure I have one that does...)
