sending a picture behind text

I am writing a poem and want to put a picture behind the
ptext but having troubles making this work. Can any one
help me?

Chris,

Assuming Word 2000 (probably similar in 2002):

Insert the picture (Insert-> Picture-> From File.
Right-click it.
From the pop-up menu, choose Format Picture.
Click the Layout tab.
Click the Behind Text icon.
Click the Advanced button.
Click the Text Wrapping tab if it isn't already in front.
Click the Behind Text icon.
Click OK and OK.
