sending email with attachment from word

I have a document open in word or excel and select "send to" "mail recipient
as attachment". The email window opens and I enter the email address. I click
on "send" and nothing happens. It doesn't send it doesn't show any errors,
nothing. If I save the email and re-open it I can then clik on "send". Or if
I press "Alt - S" it will send. Has anyone found a fix for this?

Have you applied all applicable SPs for Office XP? Does Detect and Repair
help?

It is a network install and the sp's have been installed. Detect and repair
didn't help.
