Sending Fax & Email

ted

Does someone know of a tutorial on how to setup OL 2000 to send both faxes
and emails out to recipients based on their preference? Some of our
customers can only receive faxes and the others prefer email. Thanks a lot!

Did you mean Configuring faxes on outlook 2000

To enable Outlook 2000 to send faxes

1.. Open Outlook 2000.
2.. On the Tools menu, click Services.
3.. On the Services tab, if Fax Mail Transport does not appear in the list
of information services, click Add. Select Fax Mail Transport, and then
click OK.
4.. On the Delivery tab, use the arrows provided to move Fax Mail
Transport to the top of the information services list.
Notes

a.. For the change to take effect, click OK to close Services, click the
File menu, and then click Exit and Log off. When you reopen Outlook 2000,
you can send a fax.
To send a fax from Outlook 2000

1.. Start a new e-mail message in Outlook 2000.
2.. In the To box, type the name of a fax contact, or select a fax contact
from your e-mail contact list or address book.
3.. If required, in the Subject box, type a subject.
4.. Type the message, attach a document if required, and then click Send.

Thanks for your reply. I should have said to people within Distribution
Lists (Groups). We are a small business with about 80 people in a list that
we send out messages to monthly. Some of the receipients prefer email and
some can only receive faxes. I'm wondering if it's possible to setup OL 2000
to send to each depending on their preference.

You should really look into a 3rd party solution for this. Take a look at
FaxCore, it is built solely on .NET and has a non-invasive integration with
Exchange and outlook.

Tell them Paul from CiBan sent you.

Will it allow me to automatically send either a fax or an eamail to a group
of customers without switching from fax to email and back?

More over outlook Fax supports mixed addressing (potentially you can combine
fax and email address in the address field).

Certainly. Outlook is perfectly capable of distinguishing fax from e-mail
addresses.
You failed to mention which mail support mode of Outlook and which fax
software you are using. If you did, someone could help you.
