sending receipt requests even when i say no

Outlook 2003 using both pop and imap, every now and then when i delete
messages i get asked if i want to send a read receipt. I always say no.
However I am occasionally sending them anyway against my wishes. I know this
because I can see the ndrs in the badmail of my smtp. I don't have any idea
if i am replying to some or all requests.

I know there were bugs in this mechanism that were supposedly fixed in 2003
and 2002 sp 2 but I don't think they are fixed.

have you tried setting your outlook to never send a response. You have a
choose, set it to always send, never send, and ask first.

That was the state it was in when i first noticed the problem, I have since
set it to ask to see if even when I get asked and say no if it will still
send. Either way I'm verifying my email address to spammers.
