Sending the same email to many recipients

I want to use a distribution list to send the same email to many recipients.
I will use the bcc function so the recipients DON'T see who else is receiving
the email. HOWEVER, I was advised to send the email to myself and then copy
the distribution list into the bcc line.

The problem is that the recipient won't always recognize my name (I am not
spamming, but my business is a start-up) Some recipients maybe confused
since their name doesn't appear in the TO box. I am concerned that many will
delete the message without reading it, since it's not clear that the message
is actually directed to them, even though it appears in their inbox. Is
there a way to present the recipient's name and still "hide" all the other
recipients from seeing all the names in the list?

A mail merge might be better, but you can't use mail merge with a DL. You'll
need to have them as separate contacts or as a list of addresses in an Excel
spreadsheet or comma-spearated values file. (There are other sources Outlook
can use for mail merge as well, I believe.) Some excellent mail merge
tutorials can be found on http://www.gmayor.com/

Since Outlook was intended for personal use, that kind of finesse is not
easy. You might try setting up a macro, to put each of the addresses in
turn, into the To: field. It is much faster than C&P by hand, after you've
set it up.

This is exactly what Email Templates is built fo
(www.emailtemplates.com). Rather than including a bunch of people o
the bcc list, Email Templates will actually allow you to create
template that can be applied to a bunch of contacts or mail messages.
That way each individual user gets an email that looks personalized
when really you have only created a single template message. If yo
decide to try it, please let me know if you have any issues and I'l
send you some example templates.
