sent items arn't removed from outbox

I'm running Outlook from Office 2K. All of a sudden when I send an email it is not moved from the outbox to the sent items folder. Instead it is left in the outbox as if it had been opened for editing and the Send button had not been clicked. The email is actually delivered as usual. I tried reinstalling Outlook.
