Sent Items Box

Why does outlook place an e-mal in the sent items box
even if the e-mail was not successfully sent. I think the
message has been sent but it has not nothing ever ever
ends up in the out box


any ideas??????????? Please help.

PS. Outlook 2003 delets your sent items folder all the
time, to date it has happened to me 4 times.
