Separate hard drive for Outlook's pst file

Mike Fox

My hdd C:/ crashed and I'm rebuilding my computer with a new
dirve.

Fortunately, all my data was on a separate hdd, and Outlook on C:
defaulted to it for outlook.pst. It's been so long I forgot how to
make it do this though.

Could someone please tell me where to find the info on how to change
where outlook looks for its pst file?

I'm running WinXP Pro with Office XP Pro

Thanks

Mike

close outlook, look into %systemdrive%\documents and
settings\%userprofile%\local settings\application
data\microsoft\outlook\outlook.pst move the file into the location you want,
start outlook. outlook will ask you where the file is located. browse for it.
after doing this outlook will be terminated. start outlook again. that was it.

%systemdrive% = normally c:\
\%userprofile% = your username

True enough.
\%userprofile% = your username

No. The environment variable %UserProfile% automatically includes
%SystemDrive%. %UserProfile% is
"%SystemDrive%\Documents and Settings\username"
