sequential numbering, autonumber counter

I need to print out timesheets in Microsoft Word 2000 with a different batch number for each one. I know there must be a way that I can automate Word to do this for me, rather than having to change the number on the document before printing, and then repeating this process hundreds of times. All I need to do is have the document start at say, 1600, and simply have Word number each sequential document accordingly. Does anyone know a way to do this?
