Serious Time Crunch - Please Help!!!!

Hi. I have never had any trouble with MS Office until my pastor asked
me to do some data entry (in Excel) for a special event mailing this
week - GO FIGURE! Maybe it's just the devil (jk!) lol

Here's my problem: I cannot Open or Save (nor Save As) any document in
ANY of my Office applications. Everything immediately locks up without
bringing up the normal dialog boxes, ultimately forcing me to shut down
the application. Even in MS Outlook, I cannot 'Save As' an attachment.
The only loophole I have found in Excel is that I was able to open a
recently viewed spreadsheet (from the side panel that shows the last
several documents I've opened) and click on the Save icon. However, I
cannot use the drop-down menus to Save or Save As. Oddly enough, I
cannot do this (use the Save icon) with the default 'Book1.xls'.

I have tried repairing MS Office with the CD, and even completely
uninstalling and reinstalling - none of which created different
results.

Everything seemed fine a few days ago....what could have changed this
so suddenly?

Thanks so much for any help or suggestions. I've got about 1000
information cards to input by Wednesday and don't know what to do!

Hi Cathy,

A Microsoft Windows security update last week has some odd interactions with 3rd party software from Hewlett Packard and others.
(If you have an HP computer and are using their 'autoupdate' service the newer version apparently isn't an issue).

The steps in this article may be helpful to you in getting the work done. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165
