Thanks for the prompt reply Dale, that would make sense, i have copied
below
the extract from the help file in project which lead me to think it would
roll out the std format, is a bit misleading if this is the case!
"The enterprise global template is a collection of default settings, such
as
views (view: The combination of one or more views [Gantt Chart, Resource
Sheet, and so on] and if applicable, a table and a filter. Use views to
work
with information in a variety of formats. There are three types of views:
Charts or graphs, Sheets, and Forms.), tables (table: A set of columns
that
shows specific information about tasks, resources, and assignments in a
sheet
view.), macros (macro: An action or a set of actions that you can use to
automate tasks. Macros are recorded in the Visual Basic for Applications
programming language.), and custom fields (field: A location in a sheet,
form, or chart that contains a specific kind of information about a task,
resource, or assignment. For example, in a sheet, each column is a field.
In
a form, a field is a named box or a place in a column.) that are used by
all
projects across the organization. These settings exist within a special
project on Microsoft Office Project Server and are used in all of the
organization's projects. The enterprise global template ensures that all
projects within an organization adhere to standards, such as a common use
of
views, tables, and enterprise custom fields.
You can modify the settings used in the enterprise global template to
provide new and updated project standards across your organization."
this lead me to think it updated the global on all the server projects so
that they roll out to all users.

I believe you misunderstand the purpose of the Enterprise Global file.
It
is your organization's "library" of custom objects, such as Views,
Tables,
Filters, Groups, Reports, etc. You cannot save your default Options
settings in the Enterprise Global file, however. Instead, every user
must
still update their Options settings (Tools - Options) manually.
Therefore,
this becomes a training and performance issue. Why don't you create an
FAQ
document specifying all of your organzation's Options settings, give it
to
every PM, and require them to do the steps outlined in the FAQ to set up
their Project Professional 2007 application? Beyond this, knowing that
some
Options settings are project-specific, I would strongly recommend that
you
set the required Options in each enterprise project template in your
Project
Server database. Hope this helps.
