Server 2007 Capabilities

Hello,

I'm currently using Microsoft Project 2007 standalone to work in a 20k line
item schedule file. The schedule is broken down into several segments and
it's very timeconsuming to update the file because only one person can update
the file at one time.

We're considering migrating to MSProject 2007 Server to break down the 20k
lines into smaller segments and have one person update each segment.

Can MSProject Server 2007 do this? Can it make jumbo schedules manageable?
Can you tell me the benefits of implementing 2007 server to handle large
schedules?

Thank you,

Sandra

Sandra:

Project Server is not going to make your handling of large project files
easier. Adding RAM to your local machine might help. You should consider
breaking this down into smaller component projects whether or not you
migrate to Server 2007.

Thanks Gary.

We already have as much ram as our PCs can handle. We did break up one of
our large schedules into 5 components (5 subprojects) but encountered more
difficulties. File corruptions galore and circular links abound. The
bottleneck is updating a large schedule by one person. We're trying to
develop a way around this issue.

Thanks again for your response! It's HIGHLY valued!!!
