server configuration error

Greg Anderson

We have had Project Server running for several months and now, without making any changes to the configuration, get the following error:

There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator.

What could cause this?

No settings have been changed in the Admin screens and we can no longer hit "Save Changes" in the Connect to Sharepoint Server without getting the error:

Project server cannont connect to the specified Web server running WSS.

We have everything running on one server.

Can anyone help with this?

Project Server talks to the WSS through COM+

If you can not see the WSS from Project Server, you can re-establish links to the WSS through a tool called pscomplus.exe which is located in the \bin\1033 directory . . you must know the account that you set up to configure WSS in the first instance . . e.g. wssadmin and the associated password . . you need only create the connection to WSS as there is also a section for the OLAP cube (deselect this).

When you have successfully run the proxycfg file . . you will get a success message.

If you are using a proxy, you may have to re-run the proxycfg locate in the \bin directory as pscomplus.exe can overwrite the settings.

Good luck
