Server error when publishing

When I try to publish my web, I get the following error message: Server error: Server cannot open path/filename for writing." This happens to various pages, not just one, also with various page elements, such as *.swf, etc. I was able to publish the site successfully last week, but now suddenly I can't do it. Any ideas?

Contact your host and ask them to run a check on the extensions and/or check permissions for your
account.
