Is there anyway to drilldown into the "manage security" ability and modify
it's orginial settings? I would like to give some users the ability to manage
the categories but can't do that without allowing them to see other sections,
like manage users, manage groups, etc...and I def dont want to do that.

Hi Jason
Firstly you will have to create a new group.
In the admin page click of manage users and group.
Click on groups, new group
Give it relevant name and add relevant users
Now under global permission for member of this group
allow- manage security
dont allow- manage users and groups (dont allow-do not check anything)

Now all the members in this group will be allowed to modify categories but
not groups.

Groups and categories actually go hand in hand.
For most of the organizations i have observer users who are allowed to
manage categories are also allowed to manage groups.

I am just curious to know how are groups and categories handle in your case
