Service packs for Office 2000

Rick Morrison

I recently upgraded to a new Windows 7 computer. I loaded my Office 2000
Premium on the new machine. Excel, Frontpage, Access, & Publisher all work
fine but Word freezes up when it starts and can only be closed by task
manager. Someone suggested I make sure that all the Service Packs were
installed. I downloaded O2ksr1a.exe and O2kSp3.exe. When I run O2ksr1a I
get a message Microsoft Office 20000 SR-1 Update did not complete
successfully.
If I run O2kSp3.exe I get a message The expected version of the product was
not found on your system.

What's next?

Thanks,

Rick Morrison

Office 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft.
.... so don't expect help from anyone associated with MS.

The answer to your question has been answered in detail in this forum,
however.
..... search the forum for Office 2000 and look at the more recent posts.

I should have been more specific.
The right term to search this forum is
"Office 2000 SR-1" .... or try "Office 2000 SP1"

OK, I went to one of the other sites and downloaded the good SR-1 file and
ran it. If I look in the control panel it now shows Office 2000 SR-1
Premium. When I run sp2upd.exe I get the message Microsoft is not at the
SR-1 level even though I see that it is. If I run O2kSp3.exe I get the
message The expected version of the product was no found on your system.
What now?

Thanks,

Rick Morrison

The good news is you've done the part that most people have trouble with.
.... the bad news is..... I don't know really what to suggest... but I'll
try...
O2kSp3.exe is the correct file ( you don't nees SP2 as SP3 includes it.)
I assume you got the SP3 file from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...70-47D0-4306-9FA4-8E92D36332FE&displaylang=en
.... you don't want the multilanguage one that's also offered....

Does the Help / About in Word, Excel, PPT all show at the top that it's SR-1?
If not, I'd try running the SP1 file again (?)

If so, maybe a reboot (?)
As I said, I'm sortof at a loss.....

Maybe now you might start to understand what I posted about this issue before. The
SR1A download is dead and cannot be installed. MS following the agreement with the
DOJ and Sun has removed that possibility along with other non MS sites which stand
to be sued and prosecuted through the DOJ. SR1a is dead even when you seem to be
able to download it and install it. Essential parts were removed from the install
files as per the agreement.

Peter..... Just stop. You lie and continue to.
Anyone interested can read previous posts.
Yes, the file from MS doesn't work.
Yes, the file from other sources works.

.... besides, Peter.... I thought you "plonked" me or something so you
couldn't read my posts ???
Another lie.

If you want to help, say something helpful.
If you want to sell software when what people have is perfectly good, go
elsewhere!
I am really tired of your lies.

LOL. You are a piece of work. Go and install SR1a from any download today. You are
ignorant and are misleading the OP. Get your info straight first when it comes to
downloading Service Packs for Windows 2000. You are not able to do so since Sept 09
of last year legally. And that is a fact.

And now here it is again for your enjoyment

<plonk>

Ah Peter .... this is pathetic.
..... we've been through this ..... so many multiple times now.

I'm glad you find our conversations so LOL-able. You are strangely amused.

The truth.... an interesting thing for you to bring up.
The truth on this subject exists in the history of this forum, which anyone
can search.

First, clearly other sites downloads work... more than a few people have
successfully made them work.

Second, it may be illegal for MS to continue to provide the SW, but it is
not illegal for someone to have it.
We've discussed the EULA.... and you're wrong.
Again, the history of our discussions in this forum shows that.

You tend to give what seem to be reasonable answers on other subjects, but
you must get a commission from MS for steering people away from continuing to
use Office 2000.

So..... on this subject.... just shut up and go away.
Oh.... but either you can't read this because you <plonked> me.
..... or you can..... and this plonk thing is just another one of your lies.
