Can someone please tell me how to set my fields default formats for
the files in a form?

If I want everything lined up to the right and the text in red etc -
how do i set this up as the default when i add additional fields?

thank you

I don't understand what you mean by "set my fields default formats for the
files in a form"?

If you have Text Box Controls on the form in which you store a filename as a
string, you simply set the properties of the Text Box. The two items you
mention are set with: Property: Fore Color, Value: 255 (choose red from the
color selector); Property: Text Align, Value: Right. Set the Control's
properties in the Property Dialog.

This seems so elementary that I fear I have overlooked something, so if I
have, post back here and perhaps someone will be able to help.

ha. yes it is simple but for some reason i can't figure out how access
will let me do this.

The default format when I drag a field onto a form is set such that i
wish it to be different. Once i change the font color, size and other
perameters i would like to save it as the default format. Previous
versions of access had a right click option that simply said "save as
default". but i don't see this feature in Access2010.

If you could assist i would appreciate it. It wastes a lot of time
having to reformat everything etc.
thank you,

I'm sorry not to be able to help, but I'm not yet using Access 2010.

In Form Design View, it's not difficult to set defaults for Controls in
"classic Access"... so that the defaults apply when you create a new Control
of that type. Dragging a field from the Field List onto the Form creates a
Control (using the default Control for the type of Field, and the defaults
you've defined for that type of Control). If you do not set your own
defaults for the Controls, then it uses Access' defaults.

If you want that particular Text Box to use a different property than the
defined default, I'm reasonably sure, you need to open the Property Dialog
(sometimes called the Property Sheet) just for that Control. If you want to
"adopt" the properties as set for this particular type of Control for all
subsequent Controls of that type, I am not able to say, nor to experiment
and discover, because, as I said earlier, I'm not using Access 2010.
