set up a web site

I'm brand new at this. 1st chapter. Set up a web site. I name a folder but
it's empty. The information for the web page is in another folder, apparently
named by default. Any idea what's going on?

In frontpage, go File > Open > Web (or Site, depending on the version you're
using) then browse to the folder you created and click "OPen". Frontpage
will create some folders it requires, but otherwise you're all set. To make
your first page, go File > New > Page. it might give you some choices
regarding templates etc, otherwise you get a blank page that you start work
on.

You can name the web site folder whatever you like, and place it where ever
you like, usually say in the My Documents folder is a (sensible) idea, so
you can find it easily. Frontpage converts the folder to a 'web folder' and
this is indicated by the folder/globe icon in Windows Explorer when you
browse the folder listing in My Computer

thank you for your response. You sound very knowlegable. But, I create a
folder the application doesn't use. Frontpage 2003 creates its own folder and
gives it a default name. i have ...\mydocuments\travel4\,
....\mydocuments\dogs4\ , ...\mydocuments\cats3\ ( these are practice sessions
with visibooks ) Should I just change the name of the default folder and move
on?

I don't know the name of the folder is all that important except for
identifying what web it is.......if it's a tutorial you're following I'd say
leave it as it is and get on with the lessons. Sorry, I'm not familiar with
"visibooks".
