set up my outlook address book as default mail

I used to be able to insert an address in word from the "open book" icon. Now
it says that I have to be connected to my Exchange Server to access my
contacts. Can I have access to address without be connected to an Exchange
Server...How?

If you connect to an exchange server, configure Outlook for offline use (OST
file, cached mode) - what version of Outlook? Then you will get an offline
copy of your entire mailbox, any Public Folders you wish (drag them to
PF\Favorites) and the offline address book.
