Setting backgrounds/wallpapers

I am an IT guy at a public school system and I would like to know how to
block out the dropdown menu item to "set as desktop backgound", to keep the
kids from doing just that. I have tried the Active directory settings but
those apparently are not working as the kids can save an image to their
desktop, oepn it in Explorer or Microsoft Picture editor and then right click
and "save as desktop background".

Thanks in advance!

I am blocked at work but cna do the same thing. Of course when I restart my
system in the morning it's gone again. Too much hassle to do it daily - it
just isn't worth it.

If you open the registry
editor and right click on
the key below you will
get the ability to set
permissions:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

as you can see there will
be wallpaper subkeys

I have not tested the
technique above but it
seems useful if the pc's have
been set up with an all encompassing
administrator and users that
can be limited by permissions/user rights.

another trick might be is to
export the key having the
default/preferred wallpaper
settings.

then manually or automatically
import that key back
into the registry so that and
modifications to the wallpaper keys
directly or indirectly by the user
will be overwrittened.

i think you get the idea
of what some of the possibilities
are. The rest is up to you and
you network guru....
