setting field validations

I am using a form to edit database info that opens with a
query. The query has a field that asks the user "Which
job number do you want to edit". I am trying set a
validation that will bring up an error message if the user
enters a job # that has not been created. Does anyone
know what needs to be typed in the validation area? i
tried using the expression builder but it still doesnt
work correctly
