setting up password to another page

I have been trying to set up a "login" box on the index
page of a web that only allows those who enter a password
to get to another page. I have been trying to accomplish
this by inserting a "textbox form". I was trying to use
the text box for the password and the submit button for
logging in. Am I on the right track?
I am having trouble finding out how to enter the specific
password that is required AND getting it to take me to a
page that I have already added to my web in the
navigations structure. Please help!
