Setting up security in a database

Can anyone direct me to a simple Guide for setting up Access database
security? I have read the Help files, referred to the following MS site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289885/en-us
and searched this forum.

The more I read the more confused I get. The MS site seems to say that I
should have set up the Administrator security first but perhaps I am just not
getting it.

I guess that my main problem is that I am a bit nervous about setting
security incorrectly and making the database inaccessable. Usually if I don't
know how to do something then I try it and see what happens and it works OK
or I try again. In this case I think that it is best to ask first instead of
making a hash of it.

I do not want any restrictions on the Users in using Access on their own
computer for any of their own purposes. However, I want to control how they
use the Database I have set up.

For example I don't want them to be able to:-
Open and change data directly in a table but must use the data entry forms
because of data validation.
Alter the design of forms, tables , queries or the associated code.

On the other hand I have no objection to users exporting the data from
tables and queries to another database of their own if they have a need to
create special reports for their own purpose.

I wonder if all this can be achieved through Access security and if not how
much of it can be.

As always all help will be greatly appreciated.

FWIW, if you are nervous about messing up, start by making a copy of the
database that you can fall back on if need be.

further careful study it will be quite helpful to me. However in relation to
the following extract from

"While using the custom workgroup, and logged in as almighty, create a new
database."

What if I have already created the database which is actually the case?

What if I have already created the database which is actually the
case?

Log in as almighty, create a new blank file, and then import all objects
from your file into the new one. This is crucial as this makes almighty the
owner of the database. If Admin is left as owner then you have no security
at all.
