Hi,

one user was still using Entourage 2001 on OS 9. His old Mac died and now he's got OS X 10.4 and Entourage 2004. We copied the OS
9-disk-content onto the new machine (in fact, it's an old machine (G4), but a fresh installed OS X) and Entourage 2004 found the old profile
on first start and imported the profile with no errors. His database was around 1,4GB but somehow clean (last rebuild was around 2 weeks
ago). Sending and receiving new emails works, his address book is fine and archived older mail in zillions subfolders is no problem.
But: This user has hundreds of drafts with attachments and sent emails with attachments. Every time he tries to view one of those, Entourage
stalls and then displays an error that a server could not be found. After clicking OK, the same dialog pops up for each attachment, like 8
JPEG-attachemtns = 8 times clicking OK. The mail then opens, but clicking on any attachments (with the warning dialog about opening
attachments etc.), the same happens - server not found, OK, picture opens anyway. It seems that Entourage saved the path to the original
file? And now tries to open first the original, doesn't find it (i.e. the old Mac), displays the error and then opens the attached file from
the mail?
This is very very ennoying and drives the user nuts. Any way to fix this?

Moving from Classic to OS X could introduce permission problems. You might
try dragging the drafts folder to the desktop as MBOX file and try dragging
it back to see if that helps.

I don't think so and I have some more weird info:

Case:

1. attachment is a single PDF: works without error
2. attachment is mixed doc, JPEG and PDF: 2 errors on displaying, no errors opening doc or PDF, 2 errors opening one single JPEG - JPEG is
then shown anyway

Seems that the problem is _only_ related to attached JPEGs - which leaves me even more at a loss. I also noticed that the icons refer to the
old Quicktime Viewer from OS 9 - is it possible that Entourage looks for the creator? A MIME problem?

My assumption
Seems that the problem is _only_ related to attached JPEGs

was wrong, we now found emails with PDFs causing the same error. Some attachments work, others not, no obvious regularity. For each failing
attachment it needs to clicks 2 errors to open.
I gonna transfer the whole database to a testing machine to isolate the problem a bit and prob. also try to export/import some folders.
