Shading blocks of time in Gantt chart

Someone asked the following question in January:

Is there a way of shading a specific week on the gantt chart view i.e school
holidays and still have the work bar showing in front

The answer was to change the block of time you wish to shade to 'nonworking
time' in the calendar, and apparently this was the same answer even if you
wanted the time to be working time. I tried this in a few different ways--I
changed the calendar to 'nondefault working time' without actually changing
the hours, and it didn't shade; then I changed it to 'nonworking time' and it
did shade, but then tasks were delayed by that amount of time, which is not
what I need to happen (this is a project that can be done through the school
holidays, but we'd like to shade the school holidays on the Gantt chart). Is
there another answer to this question, or can you only shade blocks of time
in the Gantt chart if it's nonworking time?

Thanks--Carolyn

Hi,

You makea new calendar, in that one make school holidays nonworking time,
then format, Timescale, nonworking time, select the new calendar. Drawing is
now disconnected from planning.
