Shading field ref

When I enter data into a text form field - and make links in other
parts of the document to form fields - using

Insert > Field > Ref > Bookmark

the only way I know its there is by pressing Alt F9 - is there a way
just to see it shaded so I know there is something there.

Bookmark [ ] dont show it up.

I am not talking about seeing the actual Field Codes or all that stuff
- I just need to know there is something in another part of the
document.

Hope this makes some sense.

You cannot shade the field unless it has content - ALT+F9 as you suggest
displays the fields (while the form is unlocked and under construction).
