Shading not printing

I recently got a brand new computer system with Microsoft Office Word 2003.
Now for some reason shading does not show up when I print out my documents as
it used to with an older version of Word. Does anyone know what the problem
might be? Could it be the dots per inch setting and if so, how do I change
that? Thank you!

You say this is a brand new computer system... is the printer new, as well?
It might be a printer drive problem. Visit the manufacturer's website to see
if there is an updated printer driver. (This in fact has been the problem &
solution when I've seen this problem.)

Hi, I noticed a similar problem that I wanted to inquire about. I also have
a new Dell and new HP printer. The colors I see on the screen (in Word 2003)
do not print as sharp or as bright as what appears on the screen, which is a
flat panel. My old Gateway and HP printer matched really well, what I saw on
screen is what printed. I have checked my driver, it is up-to-date. Thank
you.

Colors basically never print as vividly as they display on the screen (which
is the reason photographers have always preferred slides to prints). Colors
that are created with light are always going to be brighter than colors
created with ink.
