Shaky text in MS Word

MS Word has just started to act weird on my pc. All the text is
italicised, flashing and shaking. No matter which fonts I choose, it
carries on doing it. This happens to any text that type or if open any
old word doc.

Seriously. Do the documents appear correctly when opened on another
computer?

Check the font settings for text - is the Shimmer text effect selected?

Come to think of it is 'Shimmering' text. But I have not set this
effect. Also docs. that I have saved months ago have this effect as
well as docs that are being sent to me from outside.
